IGP, Mohammed Adamu, Bans Flaunting Of Personal Wealth On Social Media In Nigeria

IGP of Nigeria, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has banned flaunting of personal wealth on social media in Nigeria, according to a report by Yabaleftonline.ng.

The ban forms part of the measures to ensure that there is a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration in the country.

The 20th Inspector General of Police of Nigeria is said to have made this statement on Thursday to the media where he also expressed gratitude to the citizens for supporting the Police and other security agencies in their fight against crime in Nigeria.

The IGP gave the directives to all Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of Zonal and State Commands nationwide to ensure a peaceful celebration.”

“The IGP equally directed the Strategic Officers to ensure massive deployment of intelligence and other operational assets of the Force particularly on major highways, airports, railway stations, recreational centres, motor – parks, places of worship, financial institutions, etc”

“They are also to ensure that personnel deployed are adequately supervised for utmost professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He warned that acts bordering on indiscipline, extortion and intimidation of travellers and other road users will not be condoned,” he said.

The federal government earlier had declared Friday, December 25, and Monday, December 28, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day.
