Vivienne Craven was the first wife of late Ian Wilmut whom he married in 1967. Vivienne died in 2015.

Ian Wilmut Scientific Career
Ian Wilmut’s career basically revolved around reproductive biology and genetics.

His most significant achievement was the successful cloning of a sheep named Dolly in 1996, which was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell using a technique known as somatic cell nuclear transfer.

Wilmut had carried out the groundbreaking work with his team at the Roslin Institute. The result had made him very famous in the scientific community.
Wilmut was a professor at the University of Edinburgh and received many awards and honors for his contributions to science.
Aside from cloning, Wilmut was also involved in stem cell research. He explored the potential of using stem cells for therapeutic purposes and regenerative medicine.
Subsequently, Wilmut was an advocate of responsible and ethical use of cloning technology during his lifetime.
Wilmut died on September 10, 2023, at age 79, but his work in cloning and genetics has outlived him.
