Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has responded boldly to Freddie Blay’s threat of legal action, asserting he will not retract his statements regarding allegations of state capture involving Blay’s family.

In a social media post on Sunday, June 16, Ablakwa maintained his stance and dared Blay to proceed with legal action without delay.

“I won’t retract the truth, Mr. Freddie Blay. Since you’re getting no retraction from me, please go to court now — don’t wait for one week,” Ablakwa wrote.

The exchange stems from accusations made by Ablakwa implicating Blay’s family in what he described as “state capture.” Despite the ultimatum issued by Blay demanding a retraction within one week, Ablakwa remains steadfast and unapologetic about his claims.

“After our Tuesday, 18th June 2024 ‘Hands Off our Hotels Demonstration’ — Ghanaians should expect more unimpeachable exposés on how the Labadi Beach Hotel lost control over its beachfront to the Blay brothers,” Ablakwa continued in his post.

Freddie Blay, former National Chairman of the NPP and currently the GNPC Board Chair, had earlier demanded retractions from Ablakwa, TV3 management, and journalist Johnnie Hughes over what he termed baseless accusations against his family.

Blay refuted the allegations, emphasizing that his children legally acquired specific sections of beachfront property from the LA Council. He expressed dismay over the portrayal of his family in a negative light and threatened legal action if an apology was not issued within the stipulated timeframe.
