In an interview with actress Nayas on Experiences in Life, the ‘Waye Me Yie’ hitmaker said that she was born into a very poor home. Her family was so impoverished, she said, that they couldn’t buy clothes.
Her parents, who were farmers, had to work hard to provide for her and her four siblings.

In addition, Piesie Esther stated that life in Mampong Nsuta Atonso, where she is from, grew challenging to the point where her father moved for greener pastures after defaulting on a government loan he signed up for.

Piesie Esther stated that her mother was then left to care for the house alone.
When one of her mother’s friends invited her to visit her in Kumasi, it gave young Piesie Esther hope for the future.
Living in Kumasi was difficult, but Piesie Esther claimed it was better than life in her village. One of the worst memories she had was when her mother re-packaged leftovers from a ‘chop bar’ she was working at the time in order to feed them for the nights they spent in the Kumasi.
“We couldn’t afford food, we survived on chop bar leftovers. When they eat the fufu, then my mom will take the leftovers and make sure we eat in the evening.” “If you are suffering today, you have to go through it. Otherwise you will never have testimonies, we all go through this to become better,” she said.
