Card went to Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. He was selected as the varsity’s backup quarterback as a sophomore, but because of his athleticism, the coaching staff began him at wide receiver. He reeled in 69 receptions for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns as a receiver.

In his capacity as the backup quarterback, he also completed 597 passes for 597 yards. He received multiple scholarship offers despite missing much of the season as a quarterback, and on May 25, 2018, he committed to the Texas Longhorns. He was chosen for the 2020 Under Armour All-American Game as a senior.
