Hubert Ginn: 2x Super Bowl champion and Savannah native dead at 76

Two-time Superbowl champion Hubert Ginn played professional football as a running back for nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL), beginning from 1969 to 1978.

Ginn was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1947.

He began showcasing his skills from while at Tompkins (Savannah) high school, before he moved to Florida A&M, where he had an exceptional collegiate career.

In 1970, Ginn was drafted by the Miami Dolphins as 211th overall pick, in the 9th round of the NFL draft.

He spent three seasons with the Dolphins, the two-time Superbowl champion was traded to the Baltimore Colts.

After one season with the Colts, he made a comeback to the Dolphins and played for another one season.

Ginn was signed to the Oakland Raiders in 1976, and remained with the team until his retirement in 1978.

He appeared in a number of Championship games including the AFC Championship.

Ginn passed away from an unknown cause on September 21, 2023. He was aged 76.

He is survived by a daughter and two grandsons.
