He was born on September 29, 1934, in Fiume, Italy now Rijeka, Croatia.

Mihály Csíkszentmihályi was a renowned psychologist known for his work on the psychology of happiness, flow, and optimal human experiences.

He was a Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Management at Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California. Csíkszentmihályi received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Chicago and has had a long and illustrious career as a researcher, author, and educator.
