Gilles Villeneuve a Canadian racing driver was 32 years old when he tragically lost his life during the qualifying session for the Belgian Grand Prix on May 8, 1982.

Villeneuve, who has always been interested in cars and fast driving, began his professional career in snowmobile racing in his home province of Quebec. After winning the US and Canadian Formula Atlantic championships in 1976, he was offered a drive in Formula One with the McLaren team at the 1977 British Grand Prix.
He was hired by Ferrari for the rest of the season and drove for the Italian team from 1978 until his death in 1982. In his brief career at the highest level, he won six Grand Prix races.

In 1979, he finished four points behind teammate Jody Scheckter in the championship. He had become a fan favourite due to his daring and spectacular driving style, earning a reputation as a fearless and exceptionally talented racer.
Unfortunately, his life was cut short at the age of 32, leaving a void in the hearts of racing enthusiasts and depriving the sport of one of its most captivating personalities. Gilles Villeneuve’s legacy continues to live on, and his impact on the world of motorsport remains significant to this day.
