How old was Emmett Till when he was murdered?

Emmett Till was only 14 years old when he was brutally murdered by Roy Bryant and his brother, JW Milam. They kidnapped him from his family home at night and dragged him to a riverside.

Till was shot in the head, his body was tied in barbed wires to a heavy metal fan before being dumped into the river. His corpse was completely disfigured when they pulled it out of the river.

This happened after Carolyn Bryant, wife of Roy Bryant accused Till of staring at her lustfully, grabbing her, and passing comments at her in a grocery shop in August 1955.

Bryant and Milam were both acquitted of murder by an all-White jury following the trial in which Carolyn testified that Till grabbed and verbally threatened her.

During an interview with Look Magazine in 1956, Roy and Milan admitted to the killing of Till. Milam died in 1980 and Roy died of cancer in 1994.
