How old was Dan Stevens when he was adopted?

Dan Stevens, the English actor, was adopted at seven days old and raised in Essex and Wales. His parents, retired teachers, live in Sussex.

Jason Andrew Stevens his biological younger brother, was adopted by different parents. Stevens attended Tonbridge School, an independent school in Kent, on scholarship.

He became interested in drama after auditioning for the title role in Macbeth with his teacher, novelist Jonathan Smith.

From the age of 15, he spent his summers in London training and performing with the National Youth Theatre. Stevens studied English Literature at Emmanuel College in Cambridge.

At Cambridge, he was a member of the Footlights, along with Stefan Golaszewski, Tim Key, and Mark Watson and was also involved in the Marlowe Society.

Dan Stevens first gained international attention for his portrayal of Matthew Crawley in the acclaimed period drama Downton Abbey on ITV (2010–2012).

Since Downton Abbey, Dan Stevens has appeared in a slew of popular shows and movies. Stevens has appeared in films such as Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Beauty and the Beast since leaving Downton Abbey.
