Unfortunately, he passed away on the morning of December 30, 2010, at the age of 61. Farrell’s untimely death occurred in a hotel room in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the cause was reported as heart failure.

According to his agent, John Seine, Farrell had complained of breathing problems after a performance with his band the previous evening. The discovery of Farrell’s body was made by hotel staff when he did not respond to an alarm call.

The coincidence of Farrell’s death on the same date and in the same city as Grigori Rasputin, a historical figure featured prominently in one of Boney M.’s most iconic songs, added an eerie layer to the news. Notably, Farrell had even dressed as Rasputin during some live performances with the group.

Bobby Farrell’s final resting place is at Zorgvlied cemetery in Amsterdam, where he was laid to rest after his passing. His contribution to the music and entertainment industry, especially as a key member of Boney M., has left a lasting legacy.
