Anna Paquin played the role of Sookie when she was twenty-five years old. The series follows the vampires’ struggle for equality and assimilation as anti-vampire organisations gain power.

When Sookie falls in love with 174-year-old vampire Bill Compton her world is turned upside down, and for the first time, she must navigate the trials and terrors of intimacy and relationships.

Anna Paquin won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in the series in 2009 and was nominated for another Golden Globe, three Saturn Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2010.

Anna Paquin was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her work on the television film Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, among other honours (2007).

She was nominated for another Golden Globe Award for her work on the television film The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler (2009).
