Selena Quintanilla- Perez’s, also known by her first name Selena, was a singer and songwriter who had a net worth of $5 million at the time of her death in 1995. Despite her untimely death, Quintanilla-Perez is still regarded as the “Queen of Tejano music.”

Selena was only 23 years old when she died on March 31, 1995.
On March 31, 1995, Yolanda Saldvar shot Selena at a Days Inn hotel. Saldvar founded and served as president of the Selena Fan Club, establishing herself as Selena’s biggest fan before her murder.

She was also the manager of Selena’s boutiques, but the Quintanilla family later discovered that Saldvar was likely embezzling money from companies and fan clubs and mismanaging funds. Saldvar pulled out a gun when Selena confronted him about missing financial records.
After a nearly 10-hour standoff, she was apprehended, and Selena was pronounced dead at the hospital. Selena was 23 years old at the time. Saldvar is currently incarcerated in a maximum-security women’s prison in Gatesville, Texas.
