Ranadive and his group purchased the Kings and their old arena for $534 million in 2013, preventing the NBA team from moving to Seattle. According to Sportico’s most recent valuation, the Kings are now worth $2.06 billion.
During his tenure as Kings owner, Ranadivé has been chastised and blamed for the team’s lack of success on the court.
Ranadivé made headlines in 2014 when he proposed a style of play in which his team kept one player on offence at all times while playing a 4-on-5 defence on the other end.
