How much did Terry Moore get from Howard Hughes?

Terry Moore claims that she and Hughes married in 1949 in international waters in a ceremony performed by a ship captain. Moore claims Hughes destroyed the ship’s log that documented their marriage, and they divorced in 1956, but she and Hughes were never divorced.

Moore’s claim to be Hughes’ widow was rejected by Texas courts based on judicial estoppel; because Moore claimed in her divorce from Cramer that she was married to him in 1959 and received a property settlement in that case, her claim that she was married to Hughes at the time was inconsistent with that and would not be accepted.

Nonetheless, the Hughes heirs acknowledged Moore’s long-standing relationship with Hughes and agreed to a financial settlement with her. Terry Moore described the settlement as “not more than eight figures”; a biography of Hughes implies that the settlement was $350,000.
