Nigella Lawson is also an author and a former freelance journalist before moving into catering. Nigella Lawson was born on 6th January 1960 in Wandsworth, London to Nigel and Vanessa Lawson. Her father, Nigel Lawson, is a business and finance journalist who later became a Conservative MP and Chancellor of the Exchequer in Margaret Thatcher’s government.

Nigella Lawson’s mother was a socialite and the heiress to the J. Lyons and Co. fortune. She is of Jewish descent on both parents’ sides. Nigel and Vanessa Lawson were married from 1936 to 1985 when Nigella was 20 years. The couple moved on and remarried Therese Maclear and philosopher A. J. Ayer respectively.

She is an alumnus of Godolphin, Latymer School, and the University of Oxford. Nigella Lawson first got married to John Diamond. They met in 1986 and married in 1992 in Venice. They had two children together, a daughter Cosima and a son, Bruno. However, John Diamond died of throat cancer in March 2001, after his diagnosis in 1992.

Nigella Lawson moved on to marry Charles Saatchi in September 2003, after the demise of her late husband. The duo married for ten years and divorced due to consistent assault from Charles Saatchi which ended up in court. They however reached a financial settlement for departing ways officially.

According to the Daily Mail, documents were lodged with the High Court last week after the couple – estimated to be worth £150million (NZ$290m) – negotiated a settlement through Miss Lawson’s lawyer, Fiona Shackleton.
