The Sound of Music (1965), was the highest-grossing film of its year. Andrews won her second Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her performance as Maria von Trapp.
She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress a second time, as well as the BAFTA Award for Best British Actress in a Leading Role.

Andrews appeared as a guest star on the NBC-TV variety show The Andy Williams Show after completing The Sound of Music.
She followed this appearance on television with The Julie Andrews Show, an Emmy Award-winning special that featured Gene Kelly and the New Christy Minstrels as guests.
Andrews was made a Disney Legend in 1991 and has been honoured with an Honorary Golden Lion, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2007, and the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2022.
