The New York Times reported in 2018 that Donald Trump received at least $413 million (in 2018 prices) from his father’s business empire.
However, when Donald Trump speaks of the money he received from his father, he typically downplays the actual amount as this is because he prefers to have a reputation as a self-made billionaire
For example, in a 2007 sworn deposition, Donald Trump acknowledged borrowing $9.6 million from his father’s estate, and on the presidential campaign trail in 2015, he acknowledged borrowing $1 million from his father as a young adult.
But he described both of these amounts as “small” and emphasized that he repaid both loans “with interest.”
