Bernard Arnault is a business magnate, investor, and art collector from France. He is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of the world’s largest luxury goods company, Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE.

In 1987, he co-founded LVMH with Alain Chevalier, CEO of Mot Hennessy, and Henry Racamier, President of Louis Vuitton.

He acquired various brands after the company was founded. Louis Vutton was the first rand to become part of LVHM.

Arnault purchased Céline’s capital in 1987, but it wasn’t until 1996 that the brand was integrated into the LVMH Group for 2.7 billion French francs ($540 million).

LVMH purchased the perfume company Guerlain in 1994.  Arnault purchased Loewe in 1996, followed by Marc Jacobs and Sephora in 1997.

LVMH technically bought the Paris-based couture house Christian Dior for $13.1 billion in 2017.

Since acquiring Dior, Bernard Arnault has acquired no less than 70 luxury brands through his now-famous holding company, LVMH Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey.

LVMH has grown to become the largest company in the Eurozone by market capitalization under Arnault’s leadership, with a record of 313 billion euros ($382 billion) as of May 2021.
