Gasol scored his 10,000th career point on January 2, 2009, in a win over the Utah Jazz. During the 2008-09 NBA season, Gasol made his second All-Star appearance as a reserve for the Western Conference, his first as a Laker.

He was also named Western Conference Player of the Month after leading the Lakers to an 11-2 February record that included road victories over Boston and Cleveland. Gasol won two NBA championships, both with the Los Angeles Lakers back-to-back in 2009 and 2010.

Pau Gasol’s No. 16 jersey was retired by the Lakers on Tuesday, March 7 2023,  night, honouring the genteel big man who spent the best seasons of his 18-year NBA career with Bryant in Los Angeles.
