J.R Smith was an NBA player for sixteen years. He played for the New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets in addition to the Cavaliers and the Lakers.

Smith played high school basketball at New Jersey basketball powerhouse Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark.

On July 1, 2020, Smith signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, reuniting him with former Cavaliers teammate LeBron James. On July 30, he made his debut for the Lakers, recording no points and one foul in a 103-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
In 2021, J.R Smith signed with Complexity Gaming and he also played Warzone tournaments.
