Milos Raonic is the first Canadian man to reach the Australian Open semifinals, the French Open quarterfinals, and the Wimbledon final in the Open Era. Raonic rose to prominence after qualifying for the fourth round of the 2011 Australian Open, where he was dubbed “the future of professional tennis.”
With his first ATP Tour title three weeks later, his world ranking rose from 152 to 37 in one month, earning him the 2011 ATP Newcomer of the Year award. Raonic is the first player born in the 1990s to win an ATP Tour title, be ranked in the top ten, and qualify for the ATP Tour Finals (which he did in 2014).
