In his earlier stages, Bobby Flay held several more jobs in New York City, including one under restaurateur Jonathan Waxman. Flay received a degree in culinary arts and was a member of the first graduating class of the French Culinary Institute in 1984.

Bobby Flay opened Bobby’s Burger Palace (BBP) in Lake Grove, Long Island, on July 15, 2008, at the Smith Haven Mall. Flay currently has Bobby’s Burgers in four locations including Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Paris Hotel Las Vegas, Harrah’s Las Vegas, and Yankee Stadium in New York City.
In November 1993, Bobby Flay launched Bolo, a fine-dining Spanish restaurant. In 2014, Bobby Flay opened Gato, a Spanish- and Mediterranean-inflected restaurant to replace Bolo.
