In 2008, Travis Barker was involved in a plane crash. The plane, bound for Van Nuys, California, was flying down the runway shortly before midnight when the passengers heard a huge blast.

The pilots informed the control tower that a tyre had blown out and that the take-off would be cancelled. Instead, the plane crashed through the airport’s fence, across a roadway, and into an embankment.
Barker and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein jumped out of the jet and began running in circles on the roadway. Barker dropped to the ground after hearing others cry “Stop, drop, and roll,” and Goldstein assisted him in putting out the fire.

Barker and DJ AM were both taken to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, and were reported in critical condition. They were the only survivors of the crash. Goldstein died of an overdose less than a year later.
The crash killed Barker’s security guard, Che Still, and assistant, Chris Baker, as well as the two pilots.
