Raymond Mizsak, a 17-year-old Newark, New Jersey kid, was run over by a tractor while sleeping in his sleeping bag. Authorities arrived at the scene at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, the second day of the event, according to the original police report.

“We passed through this path twice to clear the passage of people and garbage previously, trying to get through,” one of the drivers, who is 29 years old, said in the report. When someone yelled at us, we became aware of something. When I saw the victim, I screamed for a doctor and an ambulance.”

According to reports, one bystander attempted to stop the tractor but was unable to gain the driver’s attention until it was too late.

Richard Bieler, an 18-year-old Marine on his way to Vietnam, was the other person to die. His death is a more complex tale than Mizsak’s, and it has received far less attention.
