Born on October 15, 1940, Pierre “Perrie” Mans lived for 82 years before passing away on September 13, 2023. Mans had developed since his birth to carve out a successful career as a professional snooker player. He was originally from South Africa, where in 1965 he took home the South African Professional Championship.

After winning the Benson & Hedges Masters in 1979, Mans went on to win the competition 20 times. In 1960, Mans won the South African Amateur Championship, the only time he took part in the competition. In 1965, he made the transition to professionalism and defeated Fred Van Rensburg to win the South African Professional Championship. In 1970, Mans made his debut in the World Snooker Championship.
