He was born on March 16, 1991, in Santa Monica, California, United States.
Wolfgang is the son of Dutch-Indonesian American guitarist Eddie Van Halen and American actress Valerie Bertinelli.
He started his musical career as a drummer and subsequently moved to guitar and bass.
Wolfgang performed alongside his father as the bassist for the rock band Van Halen from 2006 to 2020.

In 2012, Wolfgang appeared on Van Halen’s final album, A Different Kind Of Truth, and went on to play with Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti and Sevendust’s Clint Lowery.
He performed with the heavy metal band Tremonti from 2012 to 2016.
Following his father’s death in 2020 which led to the disbandment of Van Halen, he worked on his solo project.
Wolfgang’s debut album Mammoth was released in 2021.
