Richard Gary Bowness is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player currently serving as the head coach of the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL).

He was announced by the Winnipeg Jets as the team’s next head coach on July 3, 2022.

He has been a head coach for the original Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, and the second iteration of the Winnipeg Jets.
He has also been an associate coach with the Vancouver Canucks and Tampa Bay Lightning.
In 638 regular-season games coached in the NHL, spanning from the 1998-89 season to the 2021-22 season, Bowness has recorded a not so impressive record of 211 wins and 351 losses.
