The first episode, opens with Burgess battling for her life at Chicago Med. Ruzek cannot bear to see her suffer and he tries to keep her situation a secret from Burgess’ daughter, Makayla.
Burgess’ assailant, Roy Walton, is killed by Voight in a self-defense attempt following an interrogation. Voight conceals the murder.
Another scene opens with Deputy Superintendent Miller convicting Walton for killing her son and three others.
The twists and turns are multiplied. Then in an attempt to uncover Voight’s crime, a woman is taken hostage.

Fast forward to the eighth episode, Voight becomes aware of an FBI investigation is ongoing following the disappearance of Roy Walton and other members of the Intelligence unit.
The FBI is also investigating a murder case of a man who was killed right in front of his two young daughters.
In the final episode, Voight and the team dive into a viral case looking for hints to settle a stunning new crime. Burgess and Ruzek are now worried about Makayla.
