The original Persona 3 for the PlayStation 2 has two endings: a bad ending and a true ending. The bad ending occurs if you choose to kill Ryoji on December 31st, which will result in the world ending peacefully without anyone knowing the truth.

The true ending occurs if you choose to let Ryoji live, which will allow you to play through January and face the final boss, Nyx. The true ending also reveals the fate of the protagonist and his friends.  Persona 3 FES, an enhanced version of Persona 3 for the PlayStation 2, adds an epilogue chapter called The Answer, which is only accessible after completing the true ending of Persona 3.

The Answer is a dungeon-crawling adventure that follows Aigis and the other members of SEES as they investigate the mystery behind the protagonist’s death and the origin of Tartarus. The Answer has only one ending, which is considered canon by the developers.
