Scottish politician, Colin Beattie was the Scottish National Party Treasurer for 16 years and resumed his position for almost another year in 2020.

He was the SNP National Treasurer from 2004 to 2020. He was defeated by Douglas Chapman in the 2020 election but resumed office again when Chapman resigned in May 2021.

Battie was selected as an unopposed candidate for the 2021 Scottish Parliament election and retained his seat . He was arrested on April 18, 2023, in matters relating to investigations of funds in the SNP.

On April 18, 2023, he was arrested as a suspect involved in an ongoing investigation with regards to funding and finances of the party.
“A 71-year-old man has today, Tuesday, 18 April 2023, been arrested as a suspect in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party. The man is in custody and is being questioned by Police Scotland Detectives. A report will be sent to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service,” an official statement from the police read.
