In October 2020, Martins took a significant step in his racing career by joining ART Grand Prix for the post-season test at Catalunya. The test proved to be a promising start for the young driver, as he consistently demonstrated his capabilities by securing top-ten finishes across all four sessions. His notable achievement included a fifth-place finish on the first day, leaving a strong impression on the paddock.

The momentum from the post-season test led to Martins signing with MP Motorsport for the 2021 Formula 3 season. In this venture, he joined forces with fellow Alpine junior and Formula Renault Eurocup title rival, Caio Collet, along with Tijmen van der Helm. This marked a pivotal moment in Martins’ career as he continued to hone his skills and gain valuable experience in the competitive Formula 3 landscape.
