Magnus Carlsen is a five-time World Chess Champion and Norwegian chess grandmaster.

Magnus Carlsen is the seventh and current world number one. He first achieved this ranking in the January 2010 list and has been world number one since July 2011 after losing and reclaiming the position from Anand in 2010 and 2011.

Magnus Carlsen has also won three World Rapid Chess Championships and five World Blitz Chess Championships.

His peak rating of 2882 is the highest ever recorded. He also holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak in classical chess at the elite level.

Carlsen, a chess prodigy, won first place in the Corus chess tournament’s C group shortly after turning 13 and was named grandmaster a few months later.

At the age of 15, he won the Norwegian Chess Championship, and at the age of 17, he finished joint first in Corus’ top group.

At the age of 18, he became the youngest person in history to surpass a rating of 2800. He became the youngest person ever to reach No. 1 in the FIDE world rankings in 2010, at the age of 19.
