Ed Cooley is an American college basketball coach. Ed Cooley has been coaching since 1995. However, Cooley earned his first head coaching position in 2006 for Fairfield University of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Ed Cooley worked as an assistant coach for Al Skinner for ten years before taking the Fairfield job.
Cooley previously led Fairfield to a school-record 25 wins and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season title in 2010-11.
He was named the MAAC Coach of the Year in 2011. He was also named District I Coach of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). His 2011 team finished the season with a 25-8 record (15-3 MAAC) and advanced to the NIT’s second round.

Ed Cooley has a long history with USA Basketball. He worked as a court coach for the USA U19 Training Camp for the World Championships in 2013.
Ed Cooley is the current head coach of the Providence College Friars men’s basketball team. In 11 seasons at Providence College, Cooley has posted a 221-141 mark, which includes six trips to the NCAA Tournament, a berth in the Sweet 16 (2022), a BIG EAST Regular Season Title (2022) and a BIG EAST Tournament Title (2014).
