Freddy Krueger is a fictional character and the primary antagonist in the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series. He was created by Wes Craven and made his debut in Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street as the malevolent spirit of a child killer who had been burned to death by his victims’ parents after evading prison.

How is Freddy Krueger defeated?
After pulling him out of her dream and into reality, Maggie stabbed Krueger in the abdomen with his own glove and then shoved a pipe bomb into Krueger’s chest, effectively killing him and releasing the dream demons that had given him his power.
Why was Freddy burned?
Before the main events of the series, Freddy’s mortal death took place in 1968 when the Parents of Elm Street burned him to death in a gasoline explosion in the boiler room where he had killed their children.
