Busan is located in the Gyeongsang province, which has its own dialect called Busan satoori. Satoori means dialect or accent in Korean, and it can vary significantly from the standard Korean that is spoken in Seoul and taught in most textbooks and courses.
One of the most common words that you will hear in Busan satoori is 마 (ma), which means hey or hi. It is equivalent to 야 (ya) in standard Korean, and it is used to call someone’s attention or to start a conversation. For example:

마, 뭐하노? (Ma, mwo-ha-no?) = Hey, what are you doing?
마, 밥 뭇나? (Ma, bap-mut-na?) = Hey, have you eaten?
Both 마 and 야 are informal words, so you should only use them with people who are close to you or younger than you. If you want to be polite or formal, you should use 안녕하세요 (annyeong-haseyo), which means hello or good day in standard Korean. This is also the most common greeting that you will hear from strangers or service staff. For example:

안녕하세요, 저는 존이라고 합니다. (Annyeong-haseyo, jeo-neun Jon-i-ra-go ham-ni-da.) = Hello, I am John.
안녕하세요, 주문하시겠어요? (Annyeong-haseyo, ju-mun-ha-si-get-seo-yo?) = Hello, would you like to order?
Annyeong-haseyo is a medium-level formality word that can be used in most situations. However, if you want to be very respectful or formal, you should use 안녕하십니까 (annyeong-ha-sim-ni-kka), which is the highest level of politeness in Korean. This is usually used when you greet someone who is much older than you, someone who has a higher status than you, or someone who you want to show your respect to. For example:
안녕하십니까, 선생님. (Annyeong-ha-sim-ni-kka, seon-saeng-nim.) = Hello, teacher.
안녕하십니까, 대통령님. (Annyeong-ha-sim-ni-kka, dae-tong-ryeong-nim.) = Hello, president.
As a foreigner or a beginner learner of Korean, 안녕하세요 is always the safest option to use when you greet someone in Korea. However, if you want to impress your Busan friends or learn more about the culture and diversity of Korea, you can try to use some Busan satoori words like 마 or 뭐하노. Just remember to use them appropriately and respectfully.
