The best way to get from San Diego to Torrey Pines Golf Course without a car is to take the train from San Diego to Solana Beach Amtrak Station or take the line 101 bus from Hwy 101 & Plaza St to N Torrey Pines Rd & State Beach Reserve.

Designed by legendary course architect William P. Bell and completed by his son, William F. Bell, Torrey Pines opened in 1957. Torrey Pines is a municipal facility and has two courses, the North and the South.
Torrey Pines Golf Course’s South Course was redesigned in 2001 by Rees Jones in preparation for the 2008 U.S. Open. It is now 7,698 yards with a par of 72.
The Torrey Pines South Course is the more challenging of the two and is the host of the 2008 & 2021 U.S. Open Championships.
The course features bentgrass greens, Kikuyu fairways, and roughs, and is known for its challenging greens, tight fairways, and deep bunkers. It is considered one of the best public golf courses in the United States.
