Elizabeth Frances Rigby was born in 1976, in Colchester, Essex, United Kingdom. She was brought up in Buckinghamshire. She attended a girls’ grammar school called Beaconsfield High School. Her father was a businessman while her mother was a headteacher.

Beth Rigby’s mother died of lung cancer at the age of 62. Beth lost her brother Alex to thymic carcinoma at the age of 42. She graduated with a first in social and political science from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. She obtained her master’s degree in economics and development studies from the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of London.

Beth Rigby has previously worked as a newspaper journalist for the Financial Times and The Times. She earlier joined the Financial Times as a graduate trainee in 1998. She became chief political correspondent in 2010 and then their deputy political editor in January 2013. She has worked for Sky News since 2016 and became its political editor in 2019.

Beth Rigby is currently married to her longtime partner Angelo Acanfora. The pair has two children. Angelo Acanfora has worked as a graphic designer but became a stay-at-home dad in 2016.  Beth and Angelo are living in North London.
