Stuart L. Sternberg made his money as an investor on Wall Street. He is the majority shareholder in the group that owns Tampa Bay Rays and has served as the team’s Managing General Partner since November 2005. According to Forbes,  Stuart Sternberg’s net worth is $800 million

Sternberg was also the founding owner of the now-defunct United Football League’s Florida Tuskers. After one season, he sold the franchise back to the league.

Sternberg amassed considerable wealth in the financial services industry. Sternberg began his professional career trading equity options part-time at the American Stock Exchange in 1978 while studying finance at St. John’s University.

Sternberg worked for investment firm Spear, Leeds & Kellogg after college, eventually becoming a partner there before moving to Goldman Sachs, where he retired as a partner in 2002. In the financial securities business, he has served on numerous committees and advisory boards.

Sternberg was born and raised in the Canarsie district of New York’s Brooklyn borough as the youngest of three children of Jewish parents.
