How Did Mark McGowan Meet His Wife Sarah McGowan?

Mark McGowan and Sarah’s love story started back in 1993, during a federal election. Back then, Sarah was a struggling university student.

She was earning extra cash by helping a man at a polling booth at the local school. Similarly, Mark was a member of the WA Labor Party, acting as a scrutineer to watch over counting the votes.

Sarah McGowan is an Australian teacher from Rockingham, Perth. The couple has been married for a long time and is blessed with three beautiful children.

Mark McGowan is an Australian politician, currently serving as the 30th premier of Western Australia since March 2017, and the leader of the Western Australian branch of the Labor Party since January 2012.

McGowan was born and raised in Newcastle, New South Wales. He attended the University of Queensland and worked as a legal officer for the Royal Australian Navy, serving at naval base HMAS Stirling, south of Perth.

Settling in Western Australia, he was elected as a councillor for the City of Rockingham from 1994, and was later elected to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly at the 1996 election, representing the district of Rockingham.

In 2001, he was made Parliamentary Secretary to Premier Geoff Gallop, and later served as a Cabinet Minister in both the Gallop and Carpenter Governments from 2005 to 2008.
