Larry Holley, the former men’s basketball coach at William Jewell College, passed away on Thursday, May 13. His cause of death was not revealed. Lindsey, Holley’s daughter, revealed his death on social media Thursday night:

“It is with sadness that I inform you that our wonderful father, Larry Holley, died away unexpectedly this afternoon. We’re all stunned, and I’m sure everyone who loved him is as well “the article stated. “If you knew our father, you understand how devastating this is. He was a coach, teacher, mentor, husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend to so many of us. He cherished his life and the people in it.”

Holley began his coaching career in 1968 at Harrisburg High School before moving on to Central Methodist University in 1969. Holley spent two seasons as an assistant coach after six seasons with the Eagles before taking over the Northwest Missouri State University programme.
After finishing 15-11 in 1978-79, he departed the Bearcats to take over at Jewell. Under Holley’s leadership, Jewell reached the NAIA Division II Final Four four times (1993, 1995, 1997, 2004).
