Engineer in electronics from the United States, Gerald Anderson Lawson. His work on the Fairchild Channel F video game system and his leadership of the group that invented the commercial video game cartridge made him well renowned.

Lawson first experienced diabetes issues in 2003, losing the use of one leg and one eye, as well as other complications.

He passed away from complications from diabetes on April 9, 2011, just a month after receiving the IGDA Award.

His wife, two children, and brother all survived him at the time of his passing; he lived in Santa Clara, California.
