Grant Wahl, a prominent football journalist from the United States has died while covering the World Cup in Qatar.

Grant Wahl was born on December 8, 1974 and died December 10, 2022 at age 48.

How Did Grant Wahl Die?

While died after collapsing suddenly in the press box at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Qatar on December 9, 2022, while covering the quarterfinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands.

He was rushed to a local hospital but passed away in the wee hours of Saturday, Dec. 10.

While the circumstances of Wahl’s death remain unclear, he had complained of chest discomfort and sought help at the medical clinic at the World Cup media center, where he was told that he probably had bronchitis.

Other reports suggested Grant may have had a heart attack, but those reports are yet to be officially confirmed.

A month earlier, Mr. Wahl was briefly detained by Qatari authorities for trying to enter a stadium wearing a rainbow shirt, in support of LGBT rights.

Grant’s brother Eric Wahl said his brother [Grant Wahl] had received death threats and that he believed Wahl was killed.

Eric also stated that the family was in contact with U.S. State Department and White House officials
