About Denny Laine

Denny Laine, a musical luminary, left a great mark as the founder of two legendary bands: the Moody Blues (1964-1966) and Wings (1971-1981).

Co-founding the Moody Blues in 1964, Laine played a pivotal role in their transition from a blues cover band to a pop sensation, notably leading the chart-topping “Go Now.”

In 1971, a new chapter unfolded as Laine joined forces with Paul and Linda McCartney to establish Wings.

Contributing to hits like “Live and Let Die” and “Band on the Run,” Laine’s collaboration with McCartney extended into songwriting, exemplified by “Mull of Kintyre.”

Beyond the fame of these bands, Laine’s musical journey showcased versatility. From touring with World Classic Rockers in 1997-2002 to leading the Denny Laine Band, his enduring passion for music remained evident.

In 2008, “The Blue Musician” marked Laine’s final solo album, a testament to his solo artistry. Even in musical theater with “Arctic Song,” he pushed creative boundaries.

Recognition belatedly arrived in 2018 with his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In January 2023, as he announced US tour dates and hinted at new material, Laine’s undiminished passion shone.

Tragically, on December 5, 2023, Denny Laine passed away at 79.
