Damon Albarn attended Goldsmiths, University of London, where he met the guitarist Graham Coxon and formed Blur ¹. They released their debut album, Leisure, in 1991.

After spending long periods touring the US, Albarn’s songwriting became increasingly influenced by British bands from the 1960s. The result was the Blur albums Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993), Parklife (1994), and The Great Escape (1995), which received critical acclaim and helped Blur gain mass popularity in the UK.

Damon Albarn’s debut solo album, Everyday Robots, was released in 2014, followed by The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows in 2021.
Damon Albarn recorded the film score for the film version of the book The Boy in the Oak. In 2014, Albarn contributed the song “Sister Rust” to the soundtrack of the science fiction film Lucy.
Damon Albarn starred in Antonia Bird’s 1997 film Face alongside Ray Winstone and Robert Carlyle. Albarn was also featured in Gunar Karlsson’s 2007 film, Anna and the Moods, and later played “Bull” in Joe Orton’s radio play Up Against It.
