How Did Creed Bratton End Up On The Office? Why Did William Charles Schneider Change His Name?

Creed Bratton is best known for playing a fictionalised version of himself on the NBC sitcom The Office, which earned him five nominations for the Screen Actor Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

He had met director Ken Kwapis on the set of The Bernie Mac Show, so “I did something I never do” and called Ken to ask for a job. Ken gave him a desk in the background for the first season, and Creed felt comfortable right away, but wanted a more active role.

Why Did William Charles Schneider Change His Name?

Creed Bratton changed his name after becoming convinced, during a night drinking ouzo in Greece, that he needed more of a rock-star moniker.

He traveled through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He played guitar at a large folk festival in Isreal appearing with his group the Young Californians.
