How did Chris Farley die and in what year?

Crosby Farley was a comedian and actor from the United States. At the time of his death, Farley was in talks to co-star with Vince Vaughn in The Gelvin and to star in a David Mamet-written biopic about comedian Fatty Arbuckle.  Farley was supposed to play Jim Carrey in the 1996 film The Cable Guy, but schedule issues forced him to withdraw.

Farley died on December 18, 1997. His body was discovered in his apartment at the John Hancock Center in Chicago, by his younger brother John. He was 33 years old at the time.

An autopsy indicated that Farley died of an overdose of cocaine and morphine, also known as a “speedball.” A “major contributing factor” was advanced atherosclerosis.

Farley’s funeral was held privately on December 23, 1997, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison, Wisconsin.

Many comedians who had worked with him on Saturday Night Live and in films, including Dan Aykroyd, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Lorne Michaels, Al Franken, John Goodman, George Wendt, and Phil Hartman, attended his burial. Farley’s remains were laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
