The frontman of an indie rock band has admitted murdering 18-year-old Bobbi-Anne McLeod after taking her from a bus stop as she travelled to see her boyfriend.

Cody Ackland, 24, the songwriter and lead guitarist for the popular Plymouth band Rakuda, did not know his victim when he took her on the night of November 20.

McLeod, a college student who looked young for her age, had been on her way to meet Louie Leach, her boyfriend, when she disappeared at about 6pm. He was the first to raise the alarm when she failed to meet him.
Ackland was arrested and has been remanded in custody since his first court appearance on November 26.
He will be sentenced on May 19, when a judge will hand him a life sentence and confirm the minimum term he will serve.
The sentence is imprisonment for life and the only issue will be the minimum term I will impose.”
