British writer who authored the book Wolf Hall, Hilary Mantel, passed away on September 22, 2022, after suffering a stroke.

She was aged 70.

Her death was announced by her publisher, Harper Collins, who said she was “one of the greatest English novelists of this century”.

Hilary Mantel was born on July 6, 1952.

She was an award-winning world-acclaimed writer, whose works spanned across historical fiction, personal memoirs and short stories.

Mantel has authored twelve novels, two collections of short stories, a personal memoir, and numerous articles and opinion pieces.

Mantel published her first novel, Every Day is Mother’s Day, in 1985.

Her book, Wolf Hall trilogy, won her two Booker Prizes and sold over 1 million copies in the UK alone.

She won her second Booker Prize after the release of her other book, Bring Up The Bodies, which also won her the Costa Book of The Year Award in 2012.

The trilogy, The Mirror & the Light, was also nominated for the same prize.

She was one of the critics of the film, The Spectator, for four years and helped review a number of papers and magazines in Britain and the United States.
