The four cars, which are a Range Rover Sports 2018 model, Toyota Tundra 2020 model, Maserati, and another Range Rover 2018 model, are worth a total of GH¢1.78 million.

Bentil, who is the Director of N.O.B. Djania Company Limited, has been charged with 10 counts of forgery of official documents, defrauding by false pretence, and issuing a false cheque. He pleaded not guilty to these charges when he appeared in court.
The incident occurred when Bentil expressed interest in buying some luxurious cars from a car dealer. The dealer sent two unregistered cars, a Range Rover Sports 2018 model and a Toyota Tundra 2020 model, to Bentil’s residence for inspection. Bentil then feigned interest in buying the cars and requested additional cars from the dealer.

After accepting to pay for the four cars, Bentil demanded that the original documents covering the cars be deposited with him to enable his bankers to evaluate the cars. Bentil then fraudulently registered the cars at the 37 office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in the name of the actual owners without their consent. He subsequently sold two of the cars to a third party and transferred ownership to them.
The prosecution opposed Bentil’s bail application, stating that he would abscond if granted bail as he was facing criminal charges in a different case before a different court. The judge ordered the prosecution to furnish the court with details of the proceedings from the other court to enable the court to decide.
